Lucknow: The heat in Uttar Pradesh has now become deadly. The continuously record-breaking mercury and heat wave took the lives of a record 166 people on Thursday, the sixth day of Nautapa. Bulandshahr was the hottest district with 48 degrees. Not only the day, but the nights are also very hot.
According to the Meteorological Department, Bulandshahr had earlier become hot in 1978, during which 48.2 degrees of mercury was recorded. Similarly, if we look at the available data till now, Kashi has never been so hot in May. Lucknow also came under the grip of heat wave for the first time this season on Thursday. The mercury here was recorded at 45.1 degrees. The night was also hot in the capital Lucknow and the mercury was 32.4 degrees Celsius.
166 deaths due to heat in UP
47 people died due to heat and heat wave in Bundelkhand and Central UP. 72 people lost their lives in Varanasi and surrounding districts. These include Sector Magistrate, Head Constable, three railway employees, Home Guard and Engineer.
11 people died in Prayagraj, nine in Kaushambi, one in Pratapgarh, three including a girl child died in Gorakhpur. Four people died due to heat stroke in Ambedkar Nagar. One person each died in Shrivasti and Gonda. Six people who fell ill due to heat stroke also died in Jhansi. Four people including a newborn died in Ghaziabad, three in Agra, one each died in Rampur, Lakhimpur Kheri, Pilibhit and Shahjahanpur.
According to the scientists of the Meteorological Department, there are chances of showers in some areas of the state. At the same time, dust storm can blow at a speed of 30 to 40 km per hour in West UP. There are chances of heat stroke and hot nights in some areas. At the same time, heat wave warning has been issued in many areas of eastern Uttar Pradesh.
